From medieval revolts to modern reforms, Sussex has always stood for a spirit of solidarity and common sense.
Yet people feel increasingly disconnected from local decisions. Trust in politics is low. Misinformation spreads faster than facts. And many no longer believe that they have a real say.
Our vision is for a Sussex where everyone has a voice in the decisions that impact our lives.

Empower
Stand for Sussex is an independent civic campaign that launched in March 2026 to promote informed participation in local democracy.
Through visual explainers, short-form video content and evidence-based briefings, we aim to make local government more understandable.
Our campaign is currently self-funded and operates on a voluntary basis. It is led by Will, who lives in Sussex and works in the local third sector.
